SITE RULES

General.

The military-riders.com forum website is presented as an open discussion forum. It is intended for active duty, reserve, national-guard, military dependent, and retiree motorcycle enthusiasts however, anyone may become a member. To post on the forum it is mandatory to register with a unique user name and password. User names may not contain any profanity, including uniquely crafted user names that employ phonetics to achieve the end result of being profane. Users who violate this policy will be permanently banned from the site. When registering on the site, members are authorized and encouraged to use an avatar (a small picture file) under the following guidelines:
1. Avatars may not contain links to any outside websites.
2. Avatars may not contain pornographic content, to include animated avatars.
3. Avatars may not contain objectionable content (as determined by a site moderator or administrator).
Members are also authorized and encouraged to post a picture as their profile picture under the same guidelines. Users who wish to register must complete all sections of the profile builder. Any information collected is for the sole use of the site, and will be used for demographic purposes only.

Posting Rules.

A user may view threads and read topic posts however, to be authorized to post in a discussion thread a user must register with the site. A member may submit as many posts as he or she wishes provided it does not constitute “post-whoring” (making short posts in every discussion thread for the sole purpose of building his or her post count). Members may initiate new threads, conduct polls, and vote in polls immediately following their registration with the site. Members may NOT post announcements or stickies. These may only be initiated by a site moderator or administrator. Members may attach picture or graphic images to their posts provided they meet the pre-determined site requirements for size and content.

Content.

Due to the number of categories, forums, topics, and discussion threads generated it is not possible for the moderators and administrators of this site to scrutinize each individual post. Therefore, members may not hold this site or any administrator, moderator, owner, member, vendor or any other person or entity affiliated with this site liable for any content which a member feels is objectionable. In these circumstances, members should advise an administrator or moderator via private message (PM) for their review. If the content is deemed objectionable, it will be removed and the offending member will have their infraction noted on their account.

There are categories covering most every motorcycle topic and general topics for members to share additional, non-motorcycle related information. Members may NOT make any post that details any operational specifics or locations. For example, a member may say “deployed to (country)”, but may not say “last night at Camp (wherever), we went a patrol that left at 0200 and raided a suspected weapons cache in the city of (wherever), and my unit is the 1/21 Infantry out of Ft. wherever.” No unit specifics, deployment timelines, mission specifics, etc.. may be posted as this is an OPEN forum.

Conduct.

Members should remember that this site is an open forum and conduct themselves accordingly. Discussions will become heated from time to time which is understandable and acceptable. However, this site will not tolerate personally malicious attacks, threats against other members, or any other type of harassment. Any member found to be in violation of this policy will be permanently banned from the site.

Additionally, since this site is designed for and geared toward the military motorcycle enthusiast it is NOT acceptable for any member to attempt to use his or her rank toward or against any other member. The philosophy of the site is simple, RHNPH (Rank Has No Place Here). The site is designed to generate open discussions, debates, thoughts, ideas, technical advice and personal opinions and should not be hindered by members feeling as though they cannot fully express themselves due to their rank or the rank of another member. Likewise, post count means absolutely nothing on this site and any member found to be attempting to use his or her post count to garner respect or to attempt to intimidate another member will be banned.

Site Support.

Support of this site is NOT required to become a member but is welcomed and appreciated. There are certain costs associated with operating a site and any member who wishes to support the site may do so. Details for supporting the site may be found under Paid Subscriptions. Members who are not site supporters will not have access to the Member’s Only Forum or Classifieds forum. Monthly Site Supporters will have access to the Member’s Only and Classified forums as well as the right to request a custom title (text that appears under their avatar). Annual Site Supporters will have the same access rights as Monthly Site Supporters. For those individuals(the first 25 registered members) who were given complimentary Site Supporter status, but have not logged on and/or posted in the 30 day period since joining, your complimentary status and Flag are subject to removal due to inactivity.

Site Sponsorship.

Sponsorship of this site IS required by any merchant, vendor, or business owner who wishes to publicly advertise and sell their products to members on this site. Any merchant, vendor or business owner found attempting to advertise or sell any product, good or service on this site without registering as a Site Supporter will be banned. Sponsorship may be in the form of a monthly contribution or products and goods to be given away as prizes to members.

Selling.

Members may NOT post items for sale in any forum other than the Classifieds forum. Members who are not Site Supporters, but who wish to advertise their items for sale may do so contacting an administrator or moderator and paying a required posting fee of $3.00 per item.

All sales that transpire via use of this site are solely between the seller and buyer, and the site will not be held liable for any issues arising from such transactions. If a member is dissatisfied with their purchase for any reason it is the responsibility of the member to rectify the issue with the seller. This site, it’s owners, administrators and moderators will not serve on behalf of or act as a mediator between parties.

Site Usage.

Usage of this site is at each members own risk. It is the responsibility of each member or user to safeguard his or her personal information to the best extent possible. If a member or user is found to be “site-phishing” they will immediately be banned and all potentially affected members will be notified via PM.

The availability of the server for this site is controlled by a third party currently. If the server is down and members cannot access the site for more than 24 hours, an administrator will contact the web host to rectify this problem. Members may not hold military-riders.com, it’s owners, administrators or moderators liable for server outages.

Additionally, any member who fails to log on for a period of 30 days or greater will be reverted from active to inactive status, until he or she logs on to the site again.

Images/Graphics.

Members may upload pictures and graphics. However, members may not upload or use the site uploader to upload pornographic pictures, graphics, images or text.

Members may insert links to offsite picture and video servers such as youtube, imageshack, photobucket, etc…

Default Re: Rules

To clarify on the Site Sponsor portion of the rules, it also includes using the site to promote or advertise a business, organization, club, or group, or any events hosted by any business, organization, club, or group for the purpose of promotion. The bottom line here is, if you want to use this site to sell something or to advertise for another entity, you need to become a Site Sponsor. Failure to do so will result in the removal of advertisements, promotions, and events from the site and a temporary for 30 days. We aren't paying to run a site to advertise for other people for free.

I know I've already talked to one potential sponsor, so hopefully they will come onboard soon.

Default Re: Rules

To reiterate for those Guests who consistently don't pay attention to the rules of the site and continue to attempt to create events in the Calendar without registering, STOP. You don't have access or permission to create/post an event or thread in the calendar or in a forum. If you really want to post an event that badly, take 5 minutes and register as a member, otherwise, stop being an annoyance.

If you are a member and have an event that you would like to post, please PM myself or Phoenix with all the pertinent information so we can include it in the calendar.
