Now that I finally have another bike after a 2yr recovery, I want to get into another MSF course. Of course one reason is to get registered to ride to work on post (which my wife could do), and the giggest reason is to rest assured that I can still do everything needed to ride safely. I'll be riding a bigger bike jumping from 600 to 1000, and though I respect the hell out of life and what can happen after the wreck, I want to make sure I can pass the test with a bigger bike too. I'm quite sure I can do it since I've been riding quads, dirtbike's, and even my wife's bike since the wreck, but its another nail in the coffin.

Altus AFB (just west of Ft Sill, but north of Ft Hood) has one this Thursday.
Great story on getting back on that horse after someone threw you off. All these suggestions are to just get into the ballpark, it's now your turn at bat! Body position on repli-racers is crucial to safe handling of that power. Squeeze the tank with the knees (not too tight to make you-know-what turn blue) and sit all the way back on the seat. Set the levers ergonomically so you do not have to cant your wrists up or down to operate the clutch or front brake. Make a straight line from you finger tips to the forearm, the lever tip should be touching under the tips of the index and middle finger while the palm is resting on the top of the handgrip. Shift lever and brake lever setup so the foot moves forward and the control is under the toe, no lifting of the foot or excessive pressing down of the toe. Set the sag and rebound damping. Let's see, an '05R1 should be running around the 35mm front and 35-38mm rear for sag. Play with it until you're happy. Also consider a full fluid change; coolant, oil, brakes. K&N air fliter and new plugs, too. If it's got OEM tires, they may have gotten hard by the O2 and ozone, swapping would be a good insurance investment. Wow, thanks for the info. I'm not ready to take a course just yet since the bike is still apart. I wanted to replace a cracked upper fairing stay and some other things before I ride it on the regular. It does have fairly new tires on it that don't look to have many miles at all. I've already adjusted the levers and shifter to fit me just right. I also removed a lot of the chrome billet crap like the painful chrome grips that transferred every vibration right into my hands. Instead I ordered dual density gel grips. The tiny chrome mirrors are getting tossed for Ducati style carbon fiber mirrors with integrated LED's for additional blinkers. I'm going more function than form. I've heard that loud pipes save lives, and the one's the previous owner put on are definitely loud. I'll be heard from way down the road until I replace them.

Yup, isn't life grand with what you can throw at some hobbies?
You may also want to consider case savers if you're going for form over function. I added these to our Daytona, pretty stout and very good looking: http://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/Scripts...Category=12831 Our Z1000 got the full Race-Tech suspension setup; G2-R fork Gold Valves and the awesome G3-S rear shock. The work was tedious, but easy, and the end result so far has me impressed. I've had pro build-up front forks and rear shock, and for the money spent on this and I do it myself, it's worth it. I've looked hard for engine covers, and just like the link you posted (look carefully) there are only left side covers available. The clutch cover on the right is whats rashed, and I have a hard time replacing it without finding a good slider or protective cover to accompany it. I found one or two sliders that mount on the cover, but when the previous owner dropped it the factory protector broke off completely and broke the bolt wells in half. I know the better protectors will do the same since they mount the same way. I'll find something eventually cause I'm still looking every day.
